The Westminster Girls Swim team sent 9 girls to this year’s state swim meet. Fresh off their first ever conference title, the swimmers were eager to do their best at the state meet. On the diving board, senior Avery Iven finished 19th out of 60 competitors. Iven, who set a new school record with a dive of 242,40 in January, is only a second year diver. Originally a gymnast, she described her interest in diving as a “hobby”, making her state finish even more impressive. Senior Lauren Massot finished 8th in the 100m backstroke and received an All State Medal. Freshman Payton Dunn finished 25th in the 500m freestyle, and junior Mackenzie Wieberg finished 30th in the 100m fly. In the 400m freestyle relay, Dunn, Massot, Wieberg, and junior Carmen Verbeke finished in 21st with a time that was one second from the school record. Congratulations to the Girls Swim Team on a great season.
