On the Bubble?

Varsity Soccer is on a hot streak and has won 4 of their last 5 games, including important wins against John Burroughs and MICDS, both of whom were in contention for a state rank. Against Burroughs, Junior Danny Sacco netted the only goal for either side, resulting in a 1-0 Westminster victory. Then, on Tuesday, the Wildcats beat MICDS in another 1-0 game, the lone goal scored by Senior Luke Linam.

The Wildcats have turned things around and overcome their early season woes. On September 12th, the Wildcats’ record sat at 2-5 and people were beginning to wonder if the team was just not as good as it had been in past years. However, a 7-0 victory over Parkway North represented a turning point in the season. Since the game against Parkway North, the Wildcats are 6-3, and have taken their losing record to 9-8 on the year. The team has 7 more games left in the season, which will be followed by Districts.

This year, the Wildcats will be going up against either Priory or Rockwood Summit in Round One of Districts, who are both very tough squads, and are both ranked in the state.

“We understand our district is tough but we know we can beat any team we play if we work hard and play the best soccer we can play,” said Linam.
