Aaron Cook Commits

Aaron Cook, the senior basketball phenom at Westminster, committed to SIU Carbondale this past weekend. Cook received 7 offers from Southern Illinois, Central Michigan, Ohio, liberty, South Dakota St., Jacksonville St., and Eastern Illinois.

Cook says, “It came down to Ohio, Central Michigan, SIU, and I ended up choosing SIU”.

After asked why SIU was his top choice,

Cook responded, “It’s closer to home. The coaching staff showed so much more interest than the other schools. I felt so much more comfortable around there guys than I did anywhere else”.

Cook, who is WCA’s top scorer, is expected to have a big senior season. He is a leader on the floor and all eyes will be on him.

“This commitment really takes a load off of my shoulders. It’s something I don’t need to worry or think about going into the season. It’s something I got out of the way so I can play to the best of my ability when the season comes around”.

The cats are going to need to change their game plan up a little bit this year after losing two 6’6″ers.

“This year we are going to have to run up and down the court so much more. So we will probably end up starting five guards”.

Cook went onto say,

“I think our biggest issue may be rebounding, but with five guards I think we will be able to push the tempo and get up and down the court a lot easier”.
