Cross Country Takes on Memphis

The Cross Country team gave a great showing on their annual trip to Memphis, Tennessee. The varsity boys placed 3rd, while the varsity girls placed soon after. The varsity boys were lead by impressive 5k runs by Andrew Murray, Senior, and Evan Parres, Sophmore, who finished in the top 10 and 20 respectively. The varsity girls were lead by equally impressive 5k runs of Makaylah Meredith, Senior, and Alysee Tarantino, Senior, who both placed in the top 40.

The meet was summed up well by senior Andrew Murray: “We were empowered by our fluorescent pink shorts to run swiftly over the hills, through the woods, but not quite to grandmothers house. We chased The sweet smell of Memphis BBQ all the way to the finish line in hopes that we could bathe our mouths in the flamboyant flavor of the city’s finest.”

Other than just running, the team also bonded on their trip to Tennessee.

“The best part of the trip was hanging out with my teammates in the hotel. Racing with them was pretty fun, too” said senior captain Ben Moore.

Be sure to go and cheer for the Varsity Cross Country team on Saturday for their Jefferson City meet!
