JV FOOTBALL PERFECT

JV Football traveled to Borgia for a Monday night game under the lights with one goal: get the win. They succeeded, edging St. Francis Borgia 28-20 for the 1st 9-0 season for a JV squad in school history.

Right off of the starting kickoff, Jeremiah Thompson, Freshman, received the kick and ran it 55 yards and into the Borgia half. This set up sophomore quarterback Chad Briden, who launched a 14 yard pass to Grant Lavalle, sophomore, to make it 7-0 WCA.  Briden and Lavalle stayed hot for the rest of the game,  ending with over 175+ yards passing and  100+ yards receiving respectively.

Borgia would battle back in the second quarter, scoring on a short pass in the Westminster red zone to make it 7-7. On the ensuing kick, Jeremiah Thompson would again receive the kickoff, this time returning it to the house on a 85 yard dash, giving the Cats a 14-7 lead late in the half.

Borgia would again battle back after the break, scoring on a 4 yard run to bring the game to 14 all in the third quarter. The Wildcats answered right back, with Briden finding Lavalle in the end zone with a 7 yard pass to make it 21-14 WCA in the fourth. Again, Borgia retaliated with a 4 yard run for a score, but the Wildcat special teams broke up the PAT, making it 21-20 midway through the fourth. Late in the quarter, the Cats put the game to rest, with Briden once again finding Lavalle with a 40 yard pass to end the game at 28-20.

Congratulations to the Wildcat JV football team on going 9-0 for the first time in school history!
