Cook Shines in WCA Win

Aaron Cook out scored the entire Priory team. Cook finished with 46 points and the Rebels finished with 38 in Westminster’s 70-38 lopsided win.

Westminster entered as heavy favorites riding a 13 game win streak, and they jumped out to a fast start in the first quarter, opening the game with an 11-4 run. Cook had 8 points (this will be a theme) and Senior Drew Melaragno added a three, giving Westminster an 11-6 lead at the end of the first quarter.

The Wildcats distances themselves in the second quarter as their hounding defense began to affect Priory, who struggled to get anything going offensively all game long. Junior sharpshooter Cliff Degroot nailed 3 thread and the lead swelled to 35-12.
After that it was the Aaron Cook show. Cool delivered 21 points in the 3rd, including 5 threes and two breakaway dunks. To end the quarter, he hit back to back to back deep threes, including a contested fadeaway and time expired. He to 2 more to open up the 4th, giving him 10 three pointers on the day.

Westminster rode their big lead to a 70-38 win. The Cats will look to push their win streak to 15 games in their next game this Friday at Lutheran South
