Girls Soccer Wins District Championship

The Westminster Girls Soccer team won a District Championship on Wednesday after beating Parkway West 2-0.

The first goal was scored by Junior Molly Andersen off ball that was headed by Freshman Margo O’Meara. This put Westminster up 1-0 in the first half.

Throughout the game, Freshman goalie Zoe Lintner made great saves to keep her team in the game.

With twenty minutes left, Senior Mollie Ottsen scored on a free kick to add the insurance goal that Westminster needed.

The game against Parkway West came after a 3-1 victory against Visitation on Monday night.

Westminster’s team is comprised of a good blend of upperclassmen leadership and underclassmen talent.

Freshmen Margo O’Meara and Annessa Shively lead the team with 28 and 14 goals, respectively. Zoe Lintner has started all 19 games, allowed only 13 goals and and earning nine shutouts.

The Wildcats play on Tuesday at home in their first Sectional game in recent memory.
