Cats fall short against Ladue

After a long and well-fought game the Westminster Wildcats fell to a good Ladue team in a 1-0 game. Going into Tuesday’s night game, the Wildcats were were huge underdogs against a tough Rams team. As a team, they decided before the game that they wanted to walk away after the game knowing they played good soccer and great defense which they did.

“We played some really good soccer against a very good team,” said Nathan Laughlin, the Senior Captain. “We played great defense and played very aggressive all game long going in hard for every ball.”

With around 10 minutes left in the first half, the Rams put one in the back of the net on a defensive breakdown by the Cats. The Westminster defense stepped up and did not allow many more chances in the second half. Zach Cancila and Chris George, Seniors, brought the defense back together after a poor defensive game against John Burroughs last weekend. All three captains and goalkeeper Joey Keane stepped up to the task and played a solid game defensively.

“Defense has stepped up but offensively we need to capitalize on scoring opportunities,” said  Luke Linam, Senior.

Next action for the Wildcats is Friday after school as they take on Parkway Central.
