Coming off of a big conference win against Lutheran South, Westminster squared off against Priory. On the second offensive play of the game, Dyllan Conway took a screen pass and weaved his way through the Priory defense for a 70-yard score. On the next possession, the offense moved quickly down the field on long runs by Steve Webb, junior. Quarterback Evan Johnson, senior, capped off the drive with a 3-yard touchdown run on a draw play to make the score 14-0.
The Rebels fought back, however and responded with a quick score when a blown assignment in the Wildcat secondary resulted in a wide open receiver in the end zone.
The Wildcats bounced back and a Zack Hughes, senior, 30-yard touchdown reception extended the Wildcats lead. Steve Webb also scored a pair of 1-yard runs to build on an already record breaking career. Dyllan Conway finished the game with three touchdown on the day and over 130 receiving yards.
After a shaky start, the Westminster defense slammed the door on the Rebel offense. The defense got a huge boost with seniors Connor Hafenrichter and Tom Graham returning to the starting lineup. The pair combined for a huge sack on a key third down, which stymied a promising Rebel drive. Brennan Murphy made a key tackle for loss as a part of a goal line stand just before the half. Jimmy Thomas also added a sack, and Webb had an interception to seal a 49-21 victory.
The Wildcats face off against a very talented John Burroughs squad next week at home at 2:00 pm.
