Varsity Tennis Rolls Over Whitfield
- Updated: 09/28/2015
The Westminster Varsity Tennis team was victorious in their first District matches of the year, defeating the Whitfield Warriors by a combined team score of 5-0.
In the doubles portion of the competition The Lady Cats went 3 and 0. The team of seniors Emily Stevenson and Sarah ragsdale cruised against their opponents, winning 8-2. Margo Koby and Tessa Copeland, also seniors, also won their doubles competition by a score of 8-1. The final doubles pair composed of freshman Hattie Means and sophomore Caroline Hinrichs eased to a decisive 8-0 win.
In the singles portion of the match, only two matches were played. Hinrichs again coasted to victory, beating her opponent in straight sets (6-0, 6-0). Means also stayed hot and won in straight sets (6-1, 6-0).
It was all smiles after the matches today, and the Tennis team is feeling confident as they head into the next round of districts.
“We all played really great today, and the doubles teams were meshing really well. Even though we were on different courts, we were all in it together.” said Copeland after the match.
