On Senior day, the Wildcat Football team finished the regular season with class, beating Borgia 37 – 20, and going 9-0 for the first time in school history.
The favored Wildcats struggled in the first half, turning the ball over 4 times. Westminster started out on top in the 1st quarter with a 38 yard field goal by freshman Andrew Kempen. Borgia battled back in the 2nd quarter with a touchdown on a 2 yard run, 3-7 Borgia.
When the players stormed onto the field for the 2nd half, so did the powerful offenses.
Westminster would break open the 3rd quarter, scoring on a 23 yard pass from senior Evan Johnson to junior Dylan Conway to make it 10-7 WCA. Borgia fought back the following drive, scoring on a 6 yard pass, 10-14 Borgia.
Westminster settled down immediately , scoring 3 touchdowns in less than 4 minutes.
Johnson let go a deep 47 yard pass to find Logan Sells, Junior, making it 17-14. Another 34 yard pass from Johnson to Sells brought the score to 24-14 WCA. Minutes later, a 45 yard charge to the end zone by junior Steve Webb made it 30-14 WCA. (The Borgia special teams broke up the PAT)
Borgia would retaliate in the 4th quarter, scoring on a 14 yard pass. 24-20 WCA The Westminster Defense did well containing the Borgia Offense, intercepting a 50 yard would be touchdown pass. The Cats would then scored he last points of the game on a 19 yard run by Webb to end the game at 37-20. This run by Webb broke the single season touchdown record by a Wildcat!
