JV BASEBALL UPDATE

Nine games into the season, the JV Baseball team is 7-2. The JV boys have gotten off to a strong start, and although there have been a fair amount of areas that need work, there has also been plenty to be proud of.

Through just the first four games, shortstop Jack Martin had hit two home runs to go along with five extra-base hits. Starting pitcher Pearson Georges shut down Festus and MICDS with strong outings in two of his three starts so far. One of two freshmen on the JV team, Nick Moten’s pitching has been stifling, and he has managed to strike out almost half of the batters he has faced. The JV team’s other Freshman, Adam Ebling, recorded three extra-base hits in Westminster’s second game against MICDS, a game that Westminster won by a score of 21-4.

The Wildcats began their season with a doubleheader against Festus and went 2-0, scoring 40 runs while allowing only eight. In the following week, they played in the Parkway preseason tournament, going 1-1 with two rainouts and a tough loss to Parkway South in the last inning.

In their opening conference series, they dominated MICDS, playing only nine innings over two days, and outscoring their opponent 38-4 with a 17-0 victory to go along with a 21-4 victory.

In their first of what will be a two-game series, the Wildcats came out flat against a strong St. Louis Patriots team, yielded a six-run second inning, and lost 8-4.

On Tuesday, the JV Boys kicked off a two-game series with Priory with an 11-0 win at home in five innings, highlighted by a strong pitching performance by Freshman Nick Moten. The Wildcats won the second game of this series 14-1 behind three no-hit innings from Sophomore Brayden Wall.

The Westminster JV Tournament will take place on Friday and Saturday. The Wildcats will play at 4:15 PM on Friday, and 10:00 AM and Noon on Saturday.
