Westminster defeats Burroughs
- Updated: 09/21/2018
Westminster played a very tough Burroughs team on Thursday and walked away with a 1-0 win over the Bombers. The very skilled Burroughs team the bombers dominated the first half. A breakaway saved by Joey Keane kept the score at 0-0 as Burroughs dominated in possession making the Wildcats do a lot of chasing. Going into halftime, the score was tied at 0-0 but it did not feel like it.
“We worked hard the last two days at practice to get ready for this game and this is where it needs to carry over and show,” said Legters, coach.
As the second half started, the Wildcats started off quick, holding the ball and playing good soccer while possessing and making the Bombers play on the other side of the ball for a change. As the game continued, the Wildcats started to get chance after chance looking for that one shot to fall. Nathan Laughlin took the ball up the sideline and slotted it into the corner to Caleb Legters who connected with Danny Sacco’s head on a wonderful cross that ended up in the back of the net.
The Wildcats look to continue to work hard as the come up on a five game week. They take on Principia Tuesday and St. Dominic Wednesday both at home, then leave for Paducah, Kentucky Friday for a tournament.
